1. Data controller
mySiteChart (mysitechart.dk / mysitechart.com) is operated by MP-IT (Mads Paaskesen). Contact: contact@mp-it.dk.
2. What data we collect
2.1 Account data
If you create an account or submit a website: your email address and an encrypted (hashed) password. We can never see your password in plain text.
2.2 Submitted websites
Domain, title, description, category, plus the optional fields you provide (type, web presence, audience, purpose, country/region/city), and any uploaded images (logo/gallery).
Note: to protect third-party brand rights, a website's logo may in some cases be shown as a neutral placeholder instead of the actual image ("brand restriction") — see Terms of Use §4 for details and how a rightful owner can contact us. This does not affect how we process your personal data.
2.3 Traffic tracking (visits to/from mySiteChart)
We count visits using a hashed IP address (not your raw, readable IP address) together with a timestamp and referring page (referrer), in order to show visit counts and power badges/counters. This tracking always happens, regardless of cookie consent, because it's necessary for the core functionality itself (visit counters) and doesn't use cookies or personally identify you.
Retention period: we have not yet set a specific deletion deadline for this anonymized traffic data. [This sentence should be updated once a concrete retention policy has been decided and implemented.]
2.4 Google Analytics — only with your consent
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. This only happens if you actively accept cookies via the banner shown on your first visit. If you decline or ignore the banner, Google Analytics is not loaded at all, and no data is sent to Google. You can change your choice at any time via "Cookie settings" in the footer.
When Google Analytics is active, data is transferred to Google, including to servers outside the EU/EEA (USA). See Google's own privacy policy for details on how Google processes this data.
2.5 Feedback and reports
If you send feedback or report a listed website, we store what you write, along with any email you provide and your browser's user agent.
2.6 Automatically created websites
Some of the websites listed in our directory are not submitted by their owner, but created automatically based on domain names we observe in inbound traffic (referrer data) to mySiteChart. For these websites, we only collect neutral, publicly available identification — favicon, Open Graph images, and similar metadata — for display in the directory. No personal data is processed in this process, only the domain name, public metadata, and a hashed IP address (see §2.3 for details on traffic tracking). To protect third-party brand rights, a website's logo may in some cases be shown as a neutral placeholder instead of the actual image ("brand restriction") — see Terms of Use §4. Submitted and automatically created websites may be approved automatically based on a technical assessment, but this approval can always be reviewed, overridden, or revoked manually by us. If you believe a website is listed incorrectly, or wish to object to a listing, you can contact us at contact@mp-it.dk.
3. Purpose and legal basis
| Data | Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Account data | Managing your account and submissions | Contract (you create the account) |
| Submitted websites | Displaying them in the directory | Contract / consent upon submission |
| Traffic tracking (hashed IP) | Visit counters, badges | Legitimate interest (core function, not personally identifiable) |
| Google Analytics | Understanding site usage | Consent (only after acceptance) |
| Feedback/reports | Being able to follow up on your inquiry | Consent (you submit it yourself) |
4. Who we share data with
- Google (only with consent to analytics) — see above.
- Cloudflare — hosts uploaded images (R2 object storage) and acts as CDN/proxy in front of the site.
- Render — hosts the frontend application itself (mysitechart.com / mysitechart.dk).
- Railway — hosts the backend API (api.mysitechart.com / api.mysitechart.dk).
- Simply.com — hosts the database where your account and submission data is stored.
We never sell your data to third parties.
5. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access — see what data we hold about you.
- Rectification — have incorrect information corrected.
- Erasure — have your account and data deleted, subject to exceptions permitted by law (e.g. if data must be retained for legal reasons).
- Objection — object to a given processing activity.
- Data portability — receive your data in a common format.
Contact us at contact@mp-it.dk to exercise your rights. You can also file a complaint with the Danish Data Protection Agency (datatilsynet.dk), if you believe we're processing your data incorrectly.
6. Security
Passwords are never stored in plain text (bcrypt hashing). IP addresses are only used in hashed form for traffic counting, never stored raw. All traffic to the site happens over HTTPS.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be made clear on the page.
